Established in 1971 by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), Chavara Cultural Centre, Kochi stands as a beacon of education, culture, and social transformation inspired by the vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara. As a voluntary, non-sectarian and non-political organization, the Centre promotes harmony through art, education, dialogue, and community development. Over the decades, Chavara Cultural Centre has become a vibrant platform for intellectual, spiritual, and cultural exchange. It organizes interfaith dialogues, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and performances that foster understanding and unity among people of different backgrounds. The Centre’s institutions, including the Chavara Institute, School of Music and Dance, Public Library, and Preview Theatre, serve as dynamic spaces for learning and creativity. Recognized by the United Nations with Special Consultative Status, the Centre also engages in social outreach, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability initiatives. Located near the South Railway Station in Kochi, it continues to be a hub for thinkers, artists, students, and social leaders dedicated to building a better society.
